This is a special Japanese cast iron tea pot. It dates to the Meiji mid Era c. 1880 and has a deep relief image of the three elements of happiness: pine, bamboo and plum blossoms (see enlarged pictures) There is a signature of the artist on back side of the lid, Tatsufumi Yukizou (see picture 7). This tea pot has been well used yet well loved and, other than missing the finial on the top of the lid (see picture 4) some minor oxidation, and mineral deposits (see picture 8), overall it remains in fine condition. It is water tight and measures about 8 1/4" diameter (21 cm) by 5 1/2" tall (14 cm) 9 1/2 (24 cm) including the handle.
