Mid-century Japanese cast iron tetsubin decorated with a circular mon (family crest) among bamboo on the front. The reverse side holds a single cherry or plum branch. Raised square 4-character makers mark near the spout. 9 3/4 high to top of handle x about 7 3/4 across. Dated in kanji Showa 25, 11th month (1950).
This tetsubin has been well cared for and has only tiny bits of rust evident. From the Tucson, Arizona collection of expatriates to Japan in the 1970s.
