This is a special Japanese cast iron pot for warming water for chado (tea ceremony). It dates to the late Taisho Era c.
1925 and has a relief image of a scenic bridge and waves. It has a bronze lid (see picture 4). This chagama has been in storage for nearly a century and seen limited and loving use. With the exception to some very minor oxidation on the interior (see pictures 6 &), it remains in excellent condition.
It is water tight and measures 7 1/2" high by 9" in diameter. It holds about two liter of liquid and does very well over flame. You'll love it , I guarantee it.........
